The Jefferson County Family and Children First program is part of a state-wide initiative that has a goal of ensuring that all children enter a school ready to learn. This is done as a collaborative effort of the education, health, and social service systems within the State of Ohio.
The Cabinet Council, which oversees this process, recognizes that to succeed, the initiative must be "home grown." Local council membership include family members (consumers), representatives of public agencies, schools, courts, and private providers.
Each council determines a local course of action to achieve school readiness/success for their county's children.
